The Town Of Nowhere
QCOSS
Queensland Council of Social Services (QCOSS) is Queensland’s peak body for the social service sector, creating positive social change through advocacy, policy development and community engagement. To address Queensland’s homelessness crisis, QCOSS launched a social pressure campaign to significantly boost State Government investment in housing.
As homelessness is an ongoing issue, it needed to be framed in a new and powerful way. For us, the answer lay in branding the scale of the problem: If all 47,000 homeless Queenslanders were a “town”, it would be the state’s 5th largest.
A mix of video, outdoor, social and direct engagement put the Town of Nowhere squarely on the map, capturing public attention, encouraging lobbying, and triggering action. The result stands as one of our proudest to date – a state budget that included a record $2.9 billion investment in social housing.
